Pat Sing Leng might be HK's best and most gorgeous flying site. Its main drawback is the climb, but the view up there makes it worthwhile. Southerly winds usually mean summer, and therefore, extreme heat; one liter of water is a bare minimum. Cross country potential - confer with Scott or Ah Fai who have had some great flights there. The landing area on the beach is extremely large and very safe. Can see downtown Shenzhen while flying. Unlike Cloudy Hills, taking off at Pat Sing Leng is possible when wind is SW. To avoid some sorrow, get as much information as possible on likely wind direction and speed before embarking on this walk. There is a whole bunch of restaurants in Tai Mei Tuk.

all info taken from hkpa.net SE to SW. Take off altitude is about 500m. Beach. By public transport, there is a bus to Tai Mei Tuk from Tai Po KCR. From the bus terminus, which also happens to be parking lot if you came by car, walk further on the same road which led you to this enchanted location. The road will curve left as it goes up. After about one kilometer, the road curves right at an intersection. There is a country park map on the left side of the road, as well as a country park exhibit inside a building. This is where the trail begins. Walk and follow indications to Pat Sin ridge. This is a very demanding walk which takes 1-2 hours to complete depending on ability. Select a take-off once the view begins to resemble the lower of the two photos above (which was taken from the air, not from the ridge). max height: 2500ft Club pilot and above, Beginners and students supervised by an instructor. max height: 2500ft Club pilot and above, Beginners and students supervised by an instructor.
